Portions of Central Avenue closed to traffic June 19 and 20

Central Avenue (Route 108) will be closed to all traffic at Birchwood Place, between 7 p.m. on Monday, June 19 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Another closure will be in effect the following night, Tuesday, June 20, beginning at 7 p.m. and concluding on Wednesday, June 21, at 6 a.m. Birchwood Place will also be closed at the Central Avenue intersection.

This closure is necessary for utility upgrades in conjunction with the Keating Avenue and Birchwood Place neighborhood reconstruction project. The work will be performed by Sargent Corporation.

The work zone will be just north of the Exit 7 / Burger King intersection. A primary detour route will be in effect via Central Avenue, Silver Street, and Locust Street. A shorter detour for non-commercial vehicles is available only via Trakey Street.
