The City of Dover has declared an Emergency Parking Ban downtown tonight, Sunday, March 11, beginning at 11 p.m. This emergency ban is in addition to the citywide winter parking ban, which begins at 1 a.m. each day.

The ban will allow Community Services crews to remove snow from downtown streets and sidewalks. Snow removal operations continue following the recent storm that resulted in more than 15 inches of snow in Dover. Some snow operations have been hindered by significant debris and obstacles in the roadway and on sidewalks.

The Emergency Parking Ban will conclude at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 12. The emergency parking ban downtown includes Central Avenue, from Silver Street to Washington Street; and Washington Street, from Fayette Street to Central Avenue, and Church Street. A map of the area can be viewed here.

Vehicles interfering with snow removal will be towed at the vehicle owner's expense. All streets adjacent to these locations will be available until 1 a.m. on Monday, when the Citywide Winter Parking Ban takes effect.

If parking after 11 p.m. on Sunday, use one of the following City of Dover controlled parking lots: Third Street lot; Chestnut Street lot; Transportation Center lot; Locust Street lot; or the Orchard Street Parking Garage.
