Subcontractors for Unitil will grind, smooth and repave two trench patches in the downtown area where new natural gas mains were previously installed for new development projects. One is located on Third Street in the area of Ross Furniture and the other is at the intersection of Central Avenue, Washington Street and Henry Law Avenue.

On Thursday night, Sept. 19 after midnight, work will begin to grind the two trenches. The grinding operation will result in some noise for residents in the immediate area. On Friday morning, Sept. 20, between 7 a.m. and noon, the trench patches will be paved.

The paving work will result in single lane closures, with one lane of alternating traffic, and some brief traffic delays.

An overnight parking restriction will be posted on a portion of Third Street on Thursday night, but no parking restriction is expected during the day.
