The City of Dover is constructing a new water storage tank near Webb Place. This storage tank will be one of two storage tanks in the main zone of the water system to provide system pressure and fire-fighting storage volume. The existing and only storage tank in the main pressure zone is the Garrison Hill tank, which was constructed in the 1960s and needs rehabilitation. Once completed, the new elevated tank will provide the necessary infrastructure for the City to take the Garrison Hill tank out of service for rehabilitation, anticipated to occur in 2024-2025.
The storage tank will be connected to the water system with new water mains along Smith Well Road to Glenwood Avenue. The City has included the reconstruction of all major city utilities (water, sewer, and drainage) under Smith Well Road as part of the project.
As the project develops, the City of Dover plans regular email updates to help residents and business plans for the construction disruption.
