Parking Permits Rules and Regulations

Additional Parking Permits Regulations

  • Valid “month” sticker must be displayed at all times.
  • Permits will not be issued to or renewed for any person who has outstanding parking violations.
  • Vehicles must have a valid registration for the permit to be valid. Unregistered vehicles on city property are subject to towing at the vehicle owner’s expense. Any permit displayed on an unregistered vehicle may be revoked, and no refund will be issued.
  • Permits holders must provide a name, address and contact number.
  • Failure to move a vehicle upon request or ignoring posted signs restricting parking in a specific location may result in revocation of the parking permit.
  • Any permit, or any part thereof, that is altered or falsified shall be revoked, and no refund will be issued. In the case of a business or entity with multiple permits, this revocation is not limited to the permit in question; all issued permits are subject to revocation, and no refund will be issued.
  • Permits are non-refundable.
  • Permits do not supersede a declared Winter Parking Ban.

Orchard Street Garage

  • Failure to renew a permit by the last day of the month may result in loss of the permit and owner may need to go on a waiting list.
  • Covered parking is not guaranteed. Your vehicle may end up on the uncovered top floor.
  • Only vehicles with valid permits are allowed in spaces numbered 301 to 514; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Permit holders are allowed in spaces 201-265 from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (except electric vehicle charging spaces 232-234, which require separate meter payment at all times – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).
  • Permit holders parked after 6 p.m. must use spaces 301-514.

Second Street Permits

  • Vehicles must be parked west of the driveway between 20 and 22 Second St. You may park on either side of the street, but it must be past that driveway. This is past Empty Pint Brewery.
  • If the Second Street lot is full, the Second Street permit is always valid in the nearby Transportation Lot at 33 Chestnut St.

First Street Permits

  • Permits are only valid on the north side of the street (across from the new building). They are not valid in the spaces facing Ear Craft Music. If the First Street lot is full, the First Street permit is always valid in the Transportation Lot at the end of the street.
  • Five spaces in front of 19 and 21 First St. are posted for parking only for those displaying a permit for Riparia (100 First St.). Any unauthorized vehicle parked in those spaces may be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense. Look for the signs. Public parking is on either side of that area.

Chapel Street Permits

  • If there are no spaces on Chapel Street, permit holders may park in the angled spaces on School Street or Saint John Street.

Central Fire Station Permits

  • If there are no spaces in the Central Fire Station lot, permit holders may park on Saint John Street.
