An error in the rate for water utility bills for the period of July 2016 through January 2017 resulted in a charge of an additional 3 cents per unit to utility users.

To correct the error, water utility bills being mailed in the coming weeks will reflect an adjustment for the billing error. During the seven-month period through January 2017, water usage was billed at a rate of $4.87 per unit, instead of $4.84 per unit, a 3-cent discrepancy.

The incorrect rate was included in the fiscal year 2017 fee schedule, in error. The correct rate was approved as part of the City Council's adoption of the fiscal year 2017 budget.

The City of Dover regrets the inconvenience this may cause our customers.

The average adjustment for commercial and industrial customers will be $10.62 and for all other customers will be $1.29. The amount will vary depending on actual usage.

Notice of the error will also be included with water utility bills.
