General Election is Nov. 3, 2026
The 2026 New Hampshire General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sample ballots will be available on this page once the primary election results are certified and ballots are by the New Hampshire Secretary of State.
Voter registration event at City Hall on Oct. 17
The city’s Supervisors of the Checklist will host a voter registration event on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dover Public Library's Community Room, 73 Locust St.
During this session, supervisors will register new voters, record address changes, and make necessary corrections to the voter checklist.
Residents may also register at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall during regular hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dover has the following six polling places:
Ward 1 - Frances G. Hopkins Elementary School, 78 Horne St.
Ward 2 - Dover Ice Arena, 110 Portland Ave.
Ward 3 - Woodman Park Elementary School, 11 Towle Ave.
Ward 4 - Garrison School, 50 Garrison Road
Ward 5 - Dover Middle School, 16 Daley Drive
Ward 6 - Hellenic Center, 219 Long Hill Road

Application for Absentee Ballot
Per state law, any person who will be absent on the day of any state election from the city, town, or unincorporated place in which he or she is registered to vote or who cannot appear in public on any election day because of his or her observance of a religious commitment or who is unable to vote there in person by reason of physical disability may vote via absentee ballot. A person who is unable to appear at any time during polling hours at his or her polling place because of an employment obligation may vote via absentee ballot, including care of children and infirm adults, with or without compensation.
To receive an absentee ballot, complete the Absentee Ballot Application and send it to the City Clerk's Office by mail, fax or hand delivery.

Deadline to return absentee ballots
The deadline for returning absentee ballots to be counted in the general election:
- In person — 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at the City Clerk's Office.
- By mail — 5 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.

After you have applied for an absentee ballot, you can use the Secretary of State's Voter Information Lookup to find out if your clerk has received your request, when the absentee ballot was sent to you, and when your clerk received your completed absentee ballot.
