General Election is Nov. 3, 2026
The 2026 New Hampshire General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sample ballots will be available on this page once the primary election results are certified and ballots are printed by the New Hampshire Secretary of State.
Voter registration event at Dover Library on Oct. 17
The city’s Supervisors of the Checklist will host a voter registration event on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dover Public Library's Community Room, 73 Locust St.
During this session, supervisors will register new voters, record address changes, and make necessary corrections to the voter checklist.
Residents may also register at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall during regular hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Absentee Ballots Now Available
Absentee ballots are now available for Nov. 6, 2026 general election.
Per state law, any person who will be absent on the day of any state election because of a religious observance, physical disability and employment obligation (including care of children and infirm adults) may vote via absentee ballot.
A voter may also obtain an absentee ballot when the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, blizzard warding, or ice storm warning for election day.
How to obtain an absentee ballot
A voter must complete an Absentee Ballot Application, which declares the applicant a duly qualified voter of the city and the reason the voter is entitled to vote by absentee ballot. Applications are also available at the City Clerk's Office.
Deliver the completed Absentee Ballot Application to the City Clerk's Office. It can be hand-delivered, mailed or faxed.

Deadline to return absentee ballots
The deadline for returning absentee ballots to be counted in the general election:
- In person — 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at the City Clerk's Office.
- By mail — 5 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
Absentee Ballot Status
After you have applied for an absentee ballot, you can use the Secretary of State's Voter Information Lookup to find out if your clerk has received your request, when the absentee ballot was sent to you, and when your clerk received your completed absentee ballot.

Dover has the following six polling places:
Ward 1 - Frances G. Hopkins Elementary School, 78 Horne St.
Ward 2 - Dover Ice Arena, 110 Portland Ave.
Ward 3 - Woodman Park Elementary School, 11 Towle Ave.
Ward 4 - Garrison School, 50 Garrison Road
Ward 5 - Dover Middle School, 16 Daley Drive
Ward 6 - Hellenic Center, 219 Long Hill Road
