Road closures, traffic restrictions in place for Saturday 5K

Dover Police Chief Anthony F. Colarusso, Jr. announces the following road closures for the fourth annual Run Before You Crawl 5K event, hosted by Dover Main Street and part of the Dover Race Series. More information is available at http://www.runb4ucrawl.com/.

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., the following road closures will be in effect:

Chestnut Street (closed in southbound direction only), from Sixth Street to Third Street
Fourth Streeet (closed in both directions), between Washington Street and Chestnut Street
Washington Street (closed in westerly direction only), from Chestnut Street to Fourth Street
Grove Street (closed in both directions), between Sixth Street to Third Street
Fifth Street (closed in both directions), between Fourth Street to Chestnut Street

The event starts and ends at the Dover Transportation Center. The course was modified this year due to the closure of the Whittier Street Bridge. The course follows a clockwise loop that includes Chestnut Street, Washington Street, Prospect Street, Fourth Street, Brookline Avenue, Grove Street and Lincoln Street. Dover police personnel and a number of event volunteers will be on hand to help manage the flow of traffic along the race route.

Parking restrictions will be posted and in effect on Saturday morning along and in sections of the Transportation Center parking lot.

COAST bus service and connections at the Transportation Center will be suspended between 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. COAST riders will be able to access the bus at nearby Waldron Towers on Green Street. Wildcat Transit is not in service this weekend.

Dover Police are coordinating with Pan Am Railways for the temporary suspension of freight trains at the Chestnut Street rail crossing to accommodate the event. Amtrak Downeaster passenger train service will not be interrupted.
