Paving of Durham, Bellamy roads to begin June 29

Weather and other conditions permitting, the city’s paving contractor will begin paving operations on Durham Road (Route 108) and Bellamy Road, starting Monday, June 29.

Durham Road will be paved from Mast Road to the Bellamy River, by the Back River Road intersection. Bellamy Road will be paved from Durham Road to Alumni Drive. The work will include milling the current pavement, raising street structures like maintenance hole covers and catch basins and trimming driveway aprons, followed by the laying of new pavement.

When paving operations are in effect, motorists should anticipate delays through the work area. Lanes will be closed in the work area, with traffic alternated by flaggers.

The City Council awarded this year's paving contract at its April 9, 2026 meeting to Continental Paving, Inc. for $2,484,600 following a competitive bid process. The complete list of streets targeted for paving this year is posted on the city’s Street Paving webpage.
