Road closures and traffic restrictions in place Sunday for road race

On Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 10 a.m., the Spirit of Recovery 5K Run/Walk event will be held at Liberty Mutual on Liberty Way. This event is part of the Dover Race Series.

Between 10 and 10:15 a.m., Sixth Street will be closed in both directions to accommodate the early portion of the race course, between the Indian Brook Drive and Liberty Way intersection and the Education Way and Venture Drive intersection.

Motorists should expect lane shifts and brief delays on Sixth Street between 10 and 11 a.m. Dover Police officers will be on hand to help control the flow of traffic. Parking for the event will be at Liberty Mutual, 100 Liberty Way. The course follows an out-and-back route utilizing Liberty Way, Sixth Street, and Education Way (Measured Progress).

The 10th Annual Spirit of Recovery event is a fundraiser to benefit the Triangle Club of Dover, which offers 12-step treatment programs for people battling drug, alcohol, nicotine and heroin addiction. The Triangle Club has been hosting peer-driven recovery support groups since 1984.
