Route 4 delays possible during night work

posted on: 9/25/2019

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces upcoming night work on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019 on U.S. Route 4 to facilitate the opening of the new roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Route 4, Spur Road, and Boston Harbor Road in Dover.

Weather permitting, work will begin at 7 p.m. and include pavement marking operations, sign installations and traffic signal removal to transform the existing signalized intersection into a roundabout. Night operations are being utilized to produce the least amount of impact to daytime commuter traffic.

Alternating one-way traffic may be utilized at night through the work area with signs, traffic control devices, uniformed officers and flaggers in place to help direct motorists.

The duration of this night work is expected to be one night, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is a complex, weather sensitive operation with a number of subcontractors involved. Unforeseen scheduling issues and adverse weather conditions would delay this work.
