Work on a new art installation at Henry Law Park is under way this week. The project, endorsed by the Arts Commission, is located in the lower section of Henry Law Park.

The installation is the work of Marielle Carpentier of Dover, a recent graduate from Marywood University with a degree in art therapy and minors in psychology and 3D design.

"The Dover Arts Commission is delighted to share Marielle’s vibrant artistry with our community," said Jane Hamor, chair of the Dover Arts Commission.

Carpentier said her installation at Henry Law Park is meant to remind everyone to celebrate even small victories.

"We often decorate trees in times of celebration; it can bring a sense of wonder and excitement," Carpentier said. "This piece, while not in a time of celebration, I hope will bring some wonder to people's walks, and maybe remind us to still celebrate the little victories. Creating beauty in times of ugliness is something we as humans do all the time. My hope is that these simple circles can remind us of that."

Carpentier will be pursuing a masters in art therapy at Lesley University this fall. A lifelong lover of art, she has found a passion for painting and sculpture, often combining the two, she works with abstraction and patternmaking to create large pieces that make a statement.
